EVERYONE NEEDS A HOBBY, AND ONE OF OURS IS GIN APPRECIATION, WHICH LUCKY FOR US IS EASY TO DO IN THE RIVERLAND WITH TWO DISTILLERIES IN RENMARK SERVING UP THE 'HIP' BOTANICAL SPIRIT.
Whether you prefer it with tonic and a slice of lime or with a dash of apple cider and ginger beer (Apple Gin Mule), there is one constant with the gins produced by Blind Tiger and 23rd Street Distillery - smooth botanicals acknowledging the citrus growing history of the Riverland. Just the way we like it!
Under the Angove Family Winemaker banner is the organic, Blind Tiger Gin. Named after a speakeasy from the prohibition era, this gin combines the aromatics of juniper berries, coriander, angelica root and summer savoury to produce a refreshing spirit. Perfect on the rocks or as a classic Martini, just add vermouth and an olive.
Blind Tiger Gin can be sampled at Agove’s Cellar Door in Renmark. Also available for tasting on site is Angove’s vast range of wines and iconic St Agnes Brandy. While you're there, introduce yourself to the organic wine varieties which are locally grown at the Nanya Vineyard in Paringa.
23rd Street Distillery’s Signature Gin is a complimenting blend of Riverland mandarin and limes, coriander and of course juniper berry. This award winning gin pays homage to humble Riverland flavours and is a local favourite. It’s best served with tonic and a slice of lime on the banks of the Murray River.
However, if you can’t manage to whip up this mix beside the river, you can always visit the 23rd Street Distillery in Renmark for a tasting of this gin. We encourage you to take a walk on the wild side and enjoy a Tom Collins or Gin Basil Smash while you are there. Be sure to sample the other craft spirits in their Signature range including Whiskey, Brandy and a Rose Vodka (using locally grown roses from Ruston’s Rose Garden).
